an interdisciplinary artist and designer remembering Nature’s wisdom
I am an interdisciplinary artist and somatic landscape designer exploring how the reciprocal relationship between body and environment can foster collective healing. I use art to conduct embodied research into how bodies and landscapes remember the past—and how artistic practice might create conditions for those memories to be felt and metabolized toward a hopeful future.
My practice moves across disciplines and scales because different forms of making illuminate distinct kinds of knowledge about the body’s relationship to memory and place. The media I employ—primarily photography, collage, jewelry, and landscape architecture—complement one another through a material alchemy in which memories shift shape and reveal shared wisdom. I create small, tactile artifacts that we can hold, wear, and cherish across generations, as well as visionary landscapes with the capacity to hold us and our wildest dreams.
My latest work explores how embodied experiences with water can help heal individual and collective trauma. Inspired by porch culture in New Orleans’ Lower Ninth Ward and somatic analysis of post-Katrina oral histories, my body-scale landscape designs reshape the relationship between ground and water to cultivate somatic awareness, process grief, cultivate joy, and heal trauma. I am currently exploring humanity’s layered relationship with water—as ancestral memory, emotion, physical body, and life source—to better understand and harness its power to heal.
